Questions to be Conversed:
Round Robbin / 1: What has brought you here today? Is there a specific demographic of diveristy you feel is misrepresented or excluded? What are the stigmas / sterotypes associated with it?
2: When is it appropriate for someone to play a trait that is not their own? (For example: height, weight, age, autistic, mentally ill, disabled, deaf, blind, etc.)
3. When does a writer have permission to create characters / stories outside of their own experience?
4. How can we make the audience more accessible to people with disabilities? What are the financial costs in creating an inclusive production?
5. When revisiting established pieces, what are the best tactics to inspire fresher, more diverse interpretations of the production?
6. What are some examples of productions that have succeeded? Why?
This is our chance to talk with each other about topics that we as artists, creatives and humans need to have. The key is we talk to and with each other. There is no panel or special guest that is smarter on a topic. We are the collective smarter panel.
